Traveller riding a camel in the September sun as Morocco's summer heat breaks

Morocco in September: The Insider Window Between Summer and Peak

September is the turn of the year: the summer heat breaks mid-month, the crowds haven’t returned, and by the last week the whole country — desert included — is back to golden shoulder-season form (26–33°C early, 24–29°C late).

We’re Happy Morocco Travel, an Amazigh-owned tour company — September in Rissani smells of the first date harvest, and the light starts doing that low golden thing photographers cross oceans for.

September Weather in Morocco

  • Early September: still summery inland (33–38°C), coast perfect
  • Late September: 24–29°C everywhere — full-circuit weather returns
  • Sahara: 35°C early → 28–32°C late, nights turning pleasant
  • Atlas: superb trekking all month

Why September Is the Insider Pick

Late September gives you October’s weather with August’s prices — the briefest, best-value window of the year. The date harvest begins around the Tafilalet oases (our home turf), the seas are at their warmest, and the big sights are still quiet. If your dates are flexible, aim for the 20th onward.

What to Do in Morocco in September

First half: coast + Atlas with a timed desert night. Second half: everything — the 8-day itinerary with two Sahara days and the 7-day classic both come back into their own. Compare months in the best time to visit guide.
