The 7-day Morocco itinerary is the shortest realistic Sahara loop that gives travellers a real overnight in the dunes, a full day in the Fes Medina, and the Atlas crossing in between. The route covers roughly 1,500 km with three driving days — there is no honest way around the long Day 4 stretch from Erg Chebbi to Fes (8 hours, 470 km).
We have operated this exact 7-day route privately since 2010. Every itinerary includes a luxury Desert camp at Erg Chebbi (private en-suite tents) regardless of accommodation tier. Drivers are expert of Moroccan roads and were born in the regions they guide; most are from the Drâa or Tafilalet.
Morning. Land at Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK) or Casablanca (CMN, 3 hour transfer). Private door-to-door pickup in an air-conditioned vehicle direct to your riad in the Medina (Mouassine or Bahia neighbourhoods are quietest). Check in, take welcome mint tea on the rooftop, decompress.
Afternoon. In the late afternoon, walk to Jemaa el-Fnaa for sunset — the food stalls light up around 6 pm. Stall 14 is our pick for tagine, stall 31 for grilled fish. Eat slowly, watch the storytellers and musicians. Don’t attempt the souks tonight — you are jet-lagged.
Accommodation: Riad in Marrakech Medina (3-star Classic / 4-star Premium / 5-star Ultimate).
Morning. Pickup at 8 am from your riad. Cross the High Atlas via Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 m) — a 30-minute coffee stop at the viewpoint with terraced Berber villages spread below. The road was widened in 2023, cutting drive time by 45 minutes vs older guides.
Afternoon. Reach Aït Benhaddou by 12:30 pm. Two-hour walk through the UNESCO-listed kasbah complex (Heritage Site since 1987, Gladiator and Game of Thrones filmed here). Lunch at a rooftop café. Continue to Ouarzazate for a brief Atlas Studios pass, then on to Skoura palmeraie. Sunset photo stop at Kasbah Amridil.
Accommodation: Boutique kasbah-hotel in Skoura palmeraie. Drive: 4 h 30 min (240 km).
Morning. Morning drive through the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs. Pause at the famous Dadès Gorge switchback viewpoint, then a 1-hour walk through Todra Gorge between 300-metre rock walls. Lunch in Tinghir.
Afternoon. Continue east through Erfoud, arriving Merzouga at 5 pm. Meet your camel caravan and trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes (1 h 15 min on camelback) for sunset. Arrive at the luxury Berber camp before dark.
Evening. Dinner at the camp — five-course Berber meal under the stars. After dinner the camp staff lead a drum circle around the campfire. On clear nights the Milky Way is directly overhead. Sleep in your private en-suite tent.
Accommodation: Luxury Sahara camp at Erg Chebbi (private en-suite tent in ALL tiers). Drive: 6 h (360 km).
Morning. Sunrise camel ride out of the dunes (cold in winter — bring a fleece). Hot shower and breakfast at the camp lodge. Depart at 9 am — this is the longest driving day, no way around it.
Afternoon. Stops along the route: Erfoud fossil workshops, Ziz Valley palmeraie photo stop, lunch in Midelt. Cross the Middle Atlas cedar forest near Azrou — Barbary macaques often line the road. Brief coffee stop in Ifrane (the alpine-style “Switzerland of Morocco”).
Evening. Descend into Fes by 7 pm. Riad check-in. Optional dinner at the riad — your driver-guide can recommend a quiet local table if you prefer to walk.
Accommodation: Riad in Fes Medina. Drive: 8 h (470 km).
Morning. Meet your licenced Fes guide at 9 am. The Fes Medina has 9,000 alleys and 280,000 residents — it is the world’s largest car-free urban area, and you will get lost without a guide. Highlights: Bab Bou Jeloud (the blue gate), Madrasa Bou Inania (Marinid architecture from 1351), Al-Qarawiyyin (founded 859 AD, oldest continuously operating university in the world).
Afternoon. Lunch at Café Clock or The Ruined Garden. Afternoon at the Chouara tannery — climb to the rooftop view to see the dye pools. Free time after for the souks (carpet, leather, ceramics).
Evening. Evening: dinner at Riad Fes or NUR for top-tier Fes dining, or a quiet meal back at your riad.
Accommodation: Same Fes riad.
Morning. Depart Fes after breakfast. Optional 30-minute coffee stop at Volubilis Roman ruins (UNESCO World Heritage) on the route — a remarkable Berber-Roman site most travellers skip.
Afternoon. Arrive Chefchaouen by 3 pm. Check in to your riad inside the blue medina. Walk the painted alleys at golden hour — Plaza Uta el-Hammam has the best afternoon light. Sit at the square fountain, watch the locals.
Evening. Dinner at Casa Aladdin or Bab Ssour (rooftop view of the entire blue town). Sleep in.
Accommodation: Riad in Chefchaouen Medina. Drive: 4 h (200 km).
Morning. Sunrise photos in the blue medina (the iconic shots are 6:30–7:30 am before the day-trippers arrive). Breakfast at the riad.
Afternoon. Depart 9:30 am. Drive to Casablanca (5 h, recommended for US-bound flights — more direct connections from CMN) or back to Fes (3 h, easier for European hubs).
Evening. Arrive at the airport with time for souk-shopping check-in. Tip: for US flights, choose Casablanca — Fes airport has fewer direct options.
Accommodation: — (departure day).
Best time to visit: March–May and September–November for ideal weather across all regions. December–February: cold Sahara nights, possible Atlas snow. June–August: very hot in cities, dawn-only camel treks.

Languages: Arabic and Berber are official. French widely spoken. English in tourist areas. All our guides speak fluent English; French / Spanish / Italian / German / Arabic on request.
Visa: No visa required for US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia, NZ — 90 days visa-free. Passport must be valid 6+ months from arrival.
Health: No special vaccinations required. Travel insurance strongly recommended.
Booking advice: Reserve 3–6 months ahead for Mar–May and Sep–Nov. Last-minute bookings often possible — message us with your dates.

We followed this exact 7-day route in October 2025. Driver Hassan was on time every morning, and the Day 4 long drive was actually fine because he broke it up with the Ziz Valley stop. Sahara overnight at Erg Chebbi was the highlight — sunrise camel ride was bone-cold but worth it.
Honeymoon trip. The team upgraded us to a private en-suite tent at the Berber camp without us asking. Aït Benhaddou tour was 90 minutes, perfect length.
Did the Marrakech-in / Fes-out version, age 62, no issues. Driver Brahim adjusted the pace for me on Day 4 with extra coffee stops.
Strong 7-day itinerary, fair pricing. Camp at Erg Chebbi had hot showers and decent Wi-Fi at the dining haima.
Two adults, two kids ages 7 and 10. Camel trek replaced with a 4×4 transfer for the youngest at our request — no extra charge. Kids loved the dunes more than anything.
February trip — Sahara nights were near-freezing, but the camp had thick blankets and a brazier. Photos came out incredible thanks to the dramatic winter light.
Solo trip, age 38. Day 5 in Fes with the local guide Said was the deepest cultural experience of any trip I have taken.
Italian-speaking guide arranged on request — no surcharge. Wife and I are 70+ and the pace was perfect.
Casablanca-in via the high-speed train as the brief suggests — easy and fast. Skipped renting a car, saved hassle.
English-second-language couple — guide spoke clear simple English which helped enormously. The luxury Sahara camp was worth every euro.
Photographer trip. Camp let us stay out late shooting Milky Way without disturbing other guests.
7 days exactly — flew in Sat, flew out Sat. Tight but doable. Day 4 long drive is real, brought audiobooks.
Yes — for the classic Marrakech + Sahara + Fes loop. Less than 7 days and you skip either the Sahara overnight or Fes. If you can extend to 10 days, add Chefchaouen overnight + Essaouira coast.
Private 4×4 or mini-van + Berber driver-guide for 7 days, 6 nights accommodation in your selected tier (the Sahara night is at our LUXURY camp in every tier), all breakfasts + 4 dinners, sunset and sunrise camel treks, full-day Fes Medina guide.
We only operate the luxury desert camp at Erg Chebbi — private en-suite tents, hot showers, dining haima, Wi-Fi at the lounge tent. We do not run a budget camp.
Private air-conditioned 4×4 (Toyota Land Cruiser) or Hyundai H1 minivan for groups of 4+. Professional Berber driver-guide who speaks fluent English (French, Spanish, Italian, German, Arabic on request).
1 hour 15 minutes each way. Sunset trek into Erg Chebbi (Day 3 evening), sunrise trek out (Day 4 morning). Total 2.5 hours on the camel across two days.
Yes. We arrange a 4×4 transfer to the camp at no extra charge. Common request for older travellers, kids under 6, or anyone with back issues.
3–6 months for March–May and September–November. 2–4 weeks for off-peak months. Last-minute bookings often possible — message us with your dates.
Send an enquiry through the form on this page or message us on WhatsApp (+212 604 551 511). We confirm availability within 4 hours during Morocco daytime, send a custom quote, and lock the booking with a 25% deposit. Balance paid on arrival.
Cancellation 31+ days before: 100% refund minus €50 admin. 30–14 days: 30% refund. Inside 15 days: no refund.
The cancellation policy can change depends on what tier you reserve from us, because some luxury hotel or raid do not gave refund.
Yes — every itinerary is private, so you can swap days, extend Sahara to 2 nights, replace Chefchaouen with Essaouira, change start city, or add a cooking class.
Yes from age 5. We add an overnight in Midelt to break the long Day 4 drive into two 4-hour drives. Camel trek replaceable with 4×4. Family rooms at every Raid /Hotel.
Both work. Marrakech-in / Fes-out is gentler for jet lag. Fes-in / Marrakech-out is often cheaper on flights from US/EU and ends in Marrakech for souk shopping.
Yes. We have operated 14 years with zero safety incident. Both group and private tours regularly have solo female travellers.
