Two Decembers exist: the quiet first three weeks — low prices, empty sites, brilliant light — and the festive final week, when Marrakech fills for New Year and riads charge accordingly. Both are good; book the holiday week months ahead. Desert nights are genuinely cold, and genuinely worth it: winter gives the clearest star skies of the year.
