Marrocos em dezembro: sol de inverno, neve no Atlas e Réveillon nas dunas

December is winter sun done right: mild bright days (16–20°C cities, 18–23°C desert), snow on the Atlas, festive New Year energy in Marrakech — and outside the holiday week itself, some of the lowest prices of the year.

We’re Soufiane and Elhoussian — December in the Sahara means crystal-clear skies, empty dunes and campfires that feel earned. Cold nights, unforgettable stars.

December Weather in Morocco

  • Marrakech & Fes: 8–19°C — sunny days, cold evenings
  • Sahara (Merzouga): 18–23°C days, 0–5°C nights — stoves, blankets, thermals
  • Coast: 12–18°C, the rainiest stretch in the north
  • Atlas: snow — Ifrane looks alpine, high passes occasionally slow

December, Honestly

Two Decembers exist: the quiet first three weeks — low prices, empty sites, brilliant light — and the festive final week, when Marrakech fills for New Year and riads charge accordingly. Both are good; book the holiday week months ahead. Desert nights are genuinely cold, and genuinely worth it: winter gives the clearest star skies of the year.

What to Do in Morocco in December

The 5-day itinerary is the perfect winter-sun escape, and New Year in a desert camp — fire, drums, stars — beats any rooftop party we’ve ever seen; the 3-day desert tour makes it easy. Snow photos: Ifrane and the Tizi n’Tichka viewpoints.

Morocco in December: FAQ

Is December a good time to visit Morocco?

Yes — mild sunny days, snow-capped scenery and low prices outside the New Year week. Pack proper layers for the nights.

How cold is the Sahara in December?

Days are pleasant (18–23°C); nights can touch freezing. Good camps run wood stoves and heavy blankets — you’ll sleep warm and wake to the year’s clearest skies.

Is New Year in Morocco worth it?

Very — especially in the desert. Marrakech is festive and busy (book early); a camp NYE under the stars is the version our guests never stop talking about.
